Telford, PA began as a small village providing services such as blacksmithing and the sale of dry goods to farmers in the area. When the railroad came through the middle of the village in the mid- 1800's Telford got its current name and began shipping goods widely.
In 1886 Telford, in Bucks County was incorporated as a borough. A year later, West Telford, located in Montgomery County was incorporated. In 1936, a law prohibiting a borough's boundaries to cross county lines was changed and the two small borought merged to form the Telford we know today.
