    • Honda continues to impress with CRV

This is our second CRV, previous one was a 2013 EXL on a 3 year lease which was flawless vehicle and not one issue in 2 1/2 yrs of driving. Just traded to the 2015 EX and Honda has made a good thing even better. Superb vehicle in every way, only wish steering wheel was leather like in Accord and auto climate should be standard on EX models, but not a deal breaker. This updated model for 2015 is better, smoother and quieter in every way , Honda will be in our garage for many many years to come.

After 5 years with the CR-V I feel I can write a complete review. Reliability has been excellent, with only the battery and 4 tires having to be replaced. Vehicle is very comfortable to drive and with AWD is very secure in all kinds of weather. Performance is good for a 4 cylinder and gas mileage is in the mid 20's for around town driving. My biggest complaint is that the road noise is louder than I would like but that seems to be common among Honda Products. Changing the tires seems to have helped with the noise issue. All around it is a great car with plenty of room, and a nice upgrade from the 2004 Ford Escape. This is my first Honda and it has made me a believer!
    • VTC Actuator Grind

My vehicle has the VTC actuator grind noise mostly after cold start up but it has also happened in warm weather. It sounds awful for a second. Honda has had on-going issues with the actuators in other model years as well with no fix. There are Honda Technical Service Bulletins regarding the problem but Honda will not pay to repair the problem unless you can prove the noise to the dealership while under warranty. The problem with this is it is intermittent. I could probably record the noise myself with my cell phone everyday because at some point, it would happen but it has to be proven at the dealership. I have left it at the dealership for several days and they couldn't replicate the noise. Several days later at home, the grind happened. My issue began about 10,000 miles before the end of my warranty. Honda states that it doesn't hurt the engine but others disagree. Look the problem up and you will find blogs that discuss the problem and issues with this as well with Accords. I will never buy another Honda. They were dismissive when contacted.
