Best Model of Subaru
by ZMAN1 on 11/7/2026 1:11:47 AM
I have owned several Subarus. My first was a 2006 Legacy. (Great car) Then 2 Outbacks. My wife had a 2013 Crosstrek. (Lots of issues) I admire the company's pholosophy. (especially charity conyributions) Forester seems like the best model for overall use. Plenty of cargo space, heavy duty roofrack; great features. Interior looks kind of cheap, especially considering purchase price. MPG is good. Ride is rough, Noisier than expected. (wind, tires, engine) Avoid CVT if possible.(forget towing) Handles well on rough terrain. Power is decent. Residual value and safety rating are highest in it's class. Parts and service are expensive.(offset by long term durability) Build quality could be better..but happy with ithe vehicle overall. - 5.0
Great site

Easy to get the value for your vehicle, minimal distractions, easy to enter other vehicles. The only hassle was adding extra words and email to this review. - 4.0
I like it

Bought my 2016 Forester new and got about $4k off the sticker price. I maintain it very well and do the work myself. I’ve had to replace the shift safety interlock mechanism at around 80k miles, due to occasionally being unable remove the key from the ignition; replaced rear wheel hub at 130k miles; replaced infotainment head (radio) at about 100k miles. Biggest disappointment is the mediocre a/c that doesn’t blow very cold when it is really hot outside. It’s a very easy car to work on and maintain. New cars today are way overpriced, and I dislike the over abundance of angst inducing “safety” features so I’m going to keep my Forester and swap out the engine and trans. with salvage yard replacements when my engine and trans. give up the ghost.
